1.8.59 - January 4, 2023

This update includes the full release of the Island scenario, the addition of the Alta X as a flyable drone, and controller support for the ORQA FPV.Ctrl.

New Features:

  • Updated Flyable Scenarios

    • The Island Scenario - Full Release

      • Island Tour Module: Take a leisurely, self-guided tour of several of the Island's major points of interest.

      • Island Circuit Module: Our biggest racing circuit to date! How fast can you navigate this course covering the entire island?

      • Boat Landing Module: Several boats are adrift in the waters surrounding the island. Find and land on each boat.

      • Tower Ascent Module: Fly through and around the supports of a power station tower until you reach the top.

      • Power Line Run Module: Test your ability to hold a straight line as you navigate your drone though the tight confines of this power line course.

      • Dock Shuttle Module: How quickly can you safely navigate through all the checkpoints on this shuttle course with your yaw locked?

      • Lighthouse Ascent Module: Pilot your drone up the spiral staircase of the lighthouse. How hard could it be?

      • Rubber Duck Scavenger Hunt Module: Ten rubber ducks are scattered around the village grounds. Can you find them all? This module is endlessly replayable, as the ducks will be in different locations each time!

  • New Flyable Drones

    • Alta X

      • The Alta X from Freefly Systems is a payload-carrying powerhouse featuring proprietary technology like ActiveBlade rotors and an integrated quick release system. Introduced in 2019, the Alta X features a top speed of over 60 mph and a flight time of around 25 minutes with the MōVI Carbon payload.

  • New Supported Controllers

    • ORQA FPV.Ctrl

Bug Fixes:

  • Corrected inconsistencies in module timers

  • Fixed a backend grading issue for NIST scenarios

1.8.43 - October 3, 2022

This hotfix addresses a few bugs that appeared after the 1.8.40 update.

1.8.40 - September 14, 2022

This update ships with two new scenarios: a shipping Warehouse and an Island with ships in the harbor. We’re big fans of this ship!

New Features:

    • Warehouse Scenario

      • This fully realized warehouse environment is perfect for honing interior and exterior flight skills in a dense, industrial environment

        • Free Flight - Explore the interior and exterior of the warehouse at your own pace

        • Free Flight Empty - Explore the interior and exterior of the warehouse at your own pace without any pesky obstacles

        • Barrier Slalom - Slalom around the interior of the warehouse through a course

        • Barrel Slalom - Slalom through an interior course comprised of barrel gates

        • Rafter Slalom: - Navigate a slalom course that will take you through the warehouse rafters

        • Racing Circuit 1-3 - Three increasingly difficult racing circuits of will take you around, over, and through the warehouse

        • Shelf Maze 1&2 - Find your way through two shelf mazes sure to test your precise movement with the drone

      • A massive island with a quaint village, towering lighthouse, small harbor, and more points of interest to discover and explore

        • We are releasing the Island scenario as a preview with an Early Bird Special discount. The Island scenario will be fully fleshed out in a future update with additional modules, and the price will be updated accordingly.   • New Flyable Drones

    • Autel EVO II

      • The Autel EVO II is the second generation in Autel's EVO series. A quadcopter, the EVO II features omnidirectional obstacle avoidance coverage, up to 8k video, and GPS. Released in 2020, the Skydio 2 features a top speed of 20 m/s and a flight time of around 40 minutes.

    • Skydio 2

      • The Skydio 2 is a more consumer-friendly follow up to the Skydio R1. Feature rich, the Skydio 2 includes an NVIDIA on-board computer, omnidirectional obstacle avoidance coverage, and GPS. Released in 2019, the Skydio 2 features a top speed of 36 mph and a flight time of around 23 minutes.

Bug Fixes:

  • NIST Test Scenario

    • Fixed an issue where the “Thirty Foot Traversal” module’s name was displaying as “Twenty Foot Traversal”

  • Kids With Drones Scenario

    • Fixed an issue where objective boxes were not displaying in some modules

    • Fixed an issue where the drone would freeze and prevent the player from completing the module

    • Updated text to correctly refer to the objective boxes as blue

  • Camera improvements

    • Fixed an issue where rotating the camera fully down on Mavic would case rotational issues when flying

    • General fixes on the entire camera system

Improvements:

  • Lighting in Obstacle Course rebaked

  • Accuracy and tracking of Timed Objectives in reports

  • Visibility and shape of box objectives

  • On drone crash, drone now starts at the spawn point in the “off” position

  • HD Racer flight physics overhaul

  • Bridge model mesh and colliders updated so pilots can fly through scaffolding now

  • Bridge improved wind value performance

  • Added more wind socks to Bridge

  • Improved general performance


1.8.12 - April 20, 2022

This update brings the addition of the BPERP course made with the support of APSA and NIST. It also comes with other changes and improvements detailed below.

New Features:

  • Added a new training scenario for the APSA BPERP

  • The Simulator now supports login from the Little Arms Launcher tool. This is in preparation for SSO implementation

  • Added a new grass system that will be disabled by default. This can be enabled in the graphics settings

  • Controller Trim settings added to controller configuration page

Bug Fixes:

  • Corrected issues with target objectives in NIST scenarios

Improvements:

  • Added launchpads to many scenarios

  • Reduced the amount of logs saved to log files to reduce clutter and enhance troubleshooting

  • New landing detection system improves accuracy of graded landing objectives

  • Control system changes to support more controller models including the RadioMaster T8

  • Offline backup of reports will persist for 30 days instead of being auto-deleted immediately upon upload to the server

  • Added yellow tape measure to NIST scenarios

  • Improved drone position detection for grading of NIST modules

  • Improved drone spotlight effects

  • Made changes to the crack visuals on the Bridge scenario
