Note: To get XBox 360 and XBox One controllers to work on older Intel-based Mac OS versions, you need to download a Third Party Software.
Download the 360ControllerInstall_0.16.4.dmg
Double click the file to install
Launch the application (it will be stored in your System Preferences called "XBox 360 Controllers")
Plug your XBox 360 or XBox One controller into your Mac (if it is not already).
Verify that your controller is registering by pressing buttons and making sure that "XBox 360 Controllers" lights up the corresponding button that you press.
If you are using an XBox One controller, go to the Advanced tab and check the button next to "Pretend to be a 360 controller."
